Carex chathamica, Chatham Sedge

Carex chathamica, commonly known as Chatham Sedge, is a NZ native grass commonly found in swampy areas. It features slender foliage which is dark green and held densely as it grows to 40 cm tall and the same wide. Carex chathamica is perfect for revegetating or enhancing wetland areas, planting around pond or stream areas, including in a mixed planting or border, or mass planting either as a groundcover or on a bank.

Chatham Sedge

The Chatham Sedge (Carex chathamica) is a NZ native grass commonly found in swampy areas. It features slender foliage which is dark green and held densely. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and the same wide, performing best on wetter soils in full sun or partial shade through it will grow well on better drained soils also. It also tolerates short periods of dry, moderate wind and frost, and shaded conditions. The Chatham Sedge is perfect for revegetating or enhancing wetland areas, planting around pond or stream areas, including in a mixed planting or border, or mass planting either as a groundcover or on a bank.
