The Red Tussock, Carex comans Red, is a NZ native, ornamental grass that features slender, hair-like foliage which is a bronze-red colour. It grows as a clump and will typically reach 40 cm tall and 60 cm wide. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of moderate frost, cool climates, coastal conditions, and dry periods. Red Tussock is commonly included in mixed plantings and borders, mass planted either as a groundcover or on a bank, used in rock gardens, or simply grown in a container.
