Carex flagellifera Details

Carex flagellifera is a NZ native grass that boasts cascading, fine, green foliage. This ornamental grass grows as a clump to about 70 cm tall and the same wide. It is a hardy grass that does prefer a full sun position with reasonable moisture levels but will tolerate dry conditions, wind, coastal conditions, frost, and almost any soil type. It requires very little maintenance apart from pulling out old leaves to encourage new leaves and prevent matting. Carex flagellifera is commonly used in border plantings, rock gardens, planted around the base of larger plants, mass planted either as a groundcover or on a bank, or simply grown in a container. The high aesthetic value of this plant makes it a popular choice and it is a fantastic inclusion for outdoor living areas or for growing indoors in a container.
