Carex petriei is a NZ native grass grown for its bronze-coloured foliage. It grows as a low mound to about 30 cm tall and the same wide bearing the fine, grass like foliage. In summer, a brown flower spike is borne above the foliage which adds additional interest to this plant. Carex petriei is a useful plant for borders, mixed plantings, container growing, or as a groundcover when mass planted.

Carex petriei is a NZ native grass grown for its bronze-coloured foliage. It grows as a low mound to about 30 cm tall and the same wide bearing the fine, grass like foliage. In summer, a brown flower spike is borne above the foliage which adds additional interest to this plant. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of light frost, dry periods, coastal conditions, and cold environments.
