Carex pumila, Blue Dune Sedge
Carex pumila is a small NZ native grass that carries dark green-blue, strap like foliage. It grows as a low and spreading plant to about 15 cm tall and 50 cm wide. It spreads quickly via its storage roots and may colonise an area much larger than this over several years. Carex pumila is commonly used for useful for stabilising sand dunes and other such exposed sites, or as a groundcover.
