Carex tenuiculmis is commonly planted around pond or alongside streams, used in wetland plantings, mass planted either as a groundcover or on a bank, included in borders or mixed plantings, or simply grown in a container. A mass planting creates a visual spectacle and is the best way to showcase this plant.
