Chionochloa rigida Details

Chionochloa rigida, commonly known as Snow Tussock, is a large tussock grass with slender, tawny-green foliage and graceful flower panicles in summer. The flowers give the plant a wispy and graceful appearance, particularly in light winds. This NZ native typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of dry periods, frost, cold climates, wind, coastal conditions, and a range of soil types from boggy to gravels! Chionochloa rigida is a very hardy grass makes a fantastic addition wherever it is used and is commonly planted alongside water features, mass planted on a bank, planted individually in rock gardens, or used to line a walkway or driveway.
