Spikerush, Common Spike Rush, Kuta, Tall Spike Sedge, Giant Spike Rush, Eleocharis sphacelata
Eleocharis sphacelata, commonly known as Kuta or Spikerush, is a rush that grows in or near still fresh water in dams, swamps, lakes, creeks and wet areas. This plant will dominate the area it colonizes by forming clumps of densely packed, bright-green or yellow-green stems. It typically grows to 1.2 m tall and 1 m wide but can emerge from water up to 2 m deep. Eleocharis sphacelata is commonly used around ponds and water margins where it can help keep ponds oxygenated and clear.
