Gahnia setifolia is a large tussock grass that makes for a magnificent specimen. The fine and slender foliage is mid green and held with a gentle arch as it reaches 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide. The leaves are harsh to touch because of minute teeth. It bears long, dark-coloured, drooping flower panicles that further accent the graceful and striking nature of this plant. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frosts, dry periods, coastal conditions, and moderate shade. Gahnia setifolia is ideal for planting at the base of trees and for revegetation plantings.
