Libertia edgariae is a NZ native grass that grows as clump of narrow, grass like leaves. Long stems carrying white, butterfly like flowers are borne in spring and are followed by attractive, red-black seed capsules. This grass typically grows to 20 cm tall and the same wide. Libertia edgariae is commonly mass planted, added to a mixed planting, planted around the base of a larger tree, or used in “white” garden themes.

Edgar’s Iris

Edgar’s Iris is the common name for Libertia edgariae, a NZ native grass that grows as clump of narrow, grass like leaves. Long stems carrying white, butterfly-like flowers are borne in spring and are followed by attractive, red-black seed capsules. This grass typically grows to 20 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of coastal conditions, cool climates, and a range of soil conditions.
