Liriope Monroe White, commonly known as Lilyturf or Monkeygrass, grows as a tidy clump and produces strap like, dark green leaves. Short stems rise above the foliage in summer to bear masses of tiny, white flowers. This variety typically grows to 20 cm tall and 25 cm wide in full sun or partial shade. Liriope Monroe White is an excellent choice for container growing, using in rock, cottage, and “white” gardens, planting around outdoor living areas, or including in borders.

Liriope muscari Monroe White

Liriope muscari Monroe White, commonly known as Lilyturf or Monkeygrass, is grown for its amazing flowers and tidy foliage. This herbaceous perennial grows as a tidy clump and produces strap like, dark green leaves. Short stems rise above the foliage in summer to bear masses of tiny, white flowers. The flowers are long lasting and contrast wonderfully with the foliage. This variety of Lilyturf typically grows to 20 cm tall and 25 cm wide, performing best when positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It tolerates cool climates, moderate frost, dry periods, and coastal environments. It may die back during winter in colder regions to regrow in spring when conditions warm, but otherwise remains evergreen. Liriope muscari Monroe White is an excellent choice for container growing, using in rock, cottage, and “white” gardens, planting around outdoor living areas, or including in borders. It looks amazing when nestled amongst groundcover plants and is best showcased with a mass planting. This Liriope is very popular with NZ landscape designers.
