Miscanthus sinensis Zebrinus is an ornamental grass grown for its variegated foliage. It grows as a clump of narrow and gently arching, green leaves with soft-yellow rings. Tall spikes of plume-like flowers are borne in summer that are cream with a pink tone. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and 1.2 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on pretty much any soil type condition barring extreme wet or dry. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, wind, coastal conditions, and extended dry periods. In cooler climates it may die back during winter to regrow again when conditions warm. Miscanthus Zebrinus is commonly included in mixed or border plantings, planted around outdoor living areas or water features, used as a backdrop for other plants, or maintained in a container.
