Sisyrinchium striatum, commonly known as the Pale Yellow-Eyed Grass, features both great flowers and foliage. It bears showy, pale-yellow flowers that last up to four weeks through spring and summer. The flowers open during the day and close at night, and are complemented with strap-like, dark green foliage. It grows as a clump to about 40 cm tall and 30 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of moderate frost, dry periods, and coastal environments. It does not cope with heavy soils or prolonged wetness. Sisyrinchium striatum is commonly included in cottage gardens, added to mixed plantings and borders, maintained in a container, planted around outdoor living area, or used anywhere the beauty of this plant can be enjoyed.
