Uncinia uncinata, commonly known as Kamu or Red Hook Sedge, is a NZ native ornamental grass grown for its impressively coloured foliage. The colour varies from dark green when grown in shade to red-brown when grown in full sun. The foliage is long and slender on this plant that typically grows to 50 cm tall and 75 cm wide. It will grow in a range of conditions but prefers a well-drained, sheltered, fertile site, and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, wind, coastal environments, heavy soils, and dry periods.
