Acaena saccaticupula is a ground-hugging, evergreen, NZ native perennial. The fern like foliage is blue-grey, soft looking, and carried on trailing, bronze stems. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and 50 cm wide in two years when grown on a well-drained site. Acaena saccaticupula is commonly used as a ground cover, grown beside a walkway, included in a rock garden, planted amongst paving stones and boulders, maintained in a container, or planted around the base of larger plants.

Acaena saccaticupula Details

Acaena saccaticupula is a ground-hugging, evergreen, NZ native perennial. The fern like foliage is blue-grey, soft looking, and carried on trailing, bronze stems. Small green flowers are produced in summer and followed by globe-shaped seed heads called burrs which are brown-red. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and 50 cm wide in two years if looked after. This plant will grow well in full sun through heavy shade conditions on almost soil that is well-drained. Acaena saccaticupula is commonly used as a ground cover, grown beside a walkway, included in a rock garden, planted amongst paving stones and boulders, maintained in a container, or planted around the base of larger plants.
