Questions and Answers

Have a question about Heterocentron elegans? We are here to help.

My neighbor has planted about 10 spanish shawl plants. They appear to be going brown and dying off. The plants are in a garden without much shade. She has been watering first thing in the morning and if needed in the evening. Looking at the plants I wouldn't think they have been over watered Paul Auckland

The four most likely causes of browning are: Over-watering. A good watering every second day during summer is generally sufficient. Pick up a handful of soil to see how wet it is. Fertiliser has been placed in the hole at planting. This is a big no-no as it is like putting a tablespoon of salt under a plant. Lack of watering. Frost damage.
