Iberis sempervirens, commonly known as Evergreen Candytuft or the Candy Tuft plant, is an evergreen shrub with spectacular flowering. Fragrant, white flowers with are produced through late winter and spring in such abundance they literally transform the plant. The dark green foliage provides a nice texture and lovely contrast to the flowers as it grows to 20 cm tall and 40 cm wide. Iberis sempervirens is often mass planted as a groundcover, included in a mixed planting or border, used in cottage or “white” gardens, or planted anywhere the fragrance can be enjoyed.

Iberis sempervirens Details

Iberis sempervirens, commonly known as Evergreen Candytuft or the Candy Tuft plant, is an evergreen shrub with spectacular flowering. Fragrant, white flowers with are produced through late winter and spring in such abundance they literally transform the plant. The flowers are great for attracting birds and insects. The dark green foliage provides a nice texture and lovely contrast to the flowers. It typically grows to 20 cm tall and 40 cm wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun, protected from wind. It is tolerant of cool climates, though young plants should be protected from frost. Iberis sempervirens is often mass planted as a groundcover, included in a mixed planting or border, used in cottage or “white” gardens, or planted anywhere the fragrance can be enjoyed. A mass planting is a must with this plant.
