Lithodora diffusa Magic Carpet is a variety that makes for an exceptional groundcover with prolific flowering. It grows as a low, creeping mat of small, dark green leaves. The foliage becomes adorned with light blue, star shaped flowers through spring and summer. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and 40 cm wide, growing best in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of light frost once established but intolerant of heavy, wet soils. Lithodora Magic Carpet makes an excellent groundcover and is also commonly used to trail over walls, spill out over paths, planted around large rocks, used in borders, or grown in a container.
