Lobelia angulata Treadwellii

“Treadwellii” is a fast growing ground covering plant. This vigorous herbaceous perennial grows as a mat with the horizontal stems forming roots wherever they come in contact with soil. The stems carry small and rounded, dark green leaves. Through spring and summer it bares masses of small, white flowers which are followed by red-purple berries. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and 1 m wide, growing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It does not like dry periods and will tolerate moderate frost once established. It may die back during winter but will regrow again in spring. “Treadwellii” is commonly used as a groundcover, included in rock or “white” gardens, or planted so it can trail over a wall or the like.
