The Pohuehue plant is the common name for Muehlenbeckia ephedroides. It is an unusual plant because it virtually has no leaves. It forms a dense mat of wiry, brown stems with tiny, green leaves that are barely visible. This NZ native typically grows to 40 cm tall and 2 m wide, growing best when planted in in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site.
