It forms a dense mat of wiry, brown stems with tiny, green leaves that are barely visible. This NZ native typically grows to 40 cm tall and 2 m wide, growing best when planted in in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of extended periods of dry, coastal conditions, frost, and cool climates.
