Ajuga reptans ‘Blueberry Muffin’, commonly known as Bugleweed, Common Bugle, or Carpet Bugle, is a variety of Ajuga grown for its impressive form and flowers. It forms a spreading mound of mid-green leaves. Showy spikes of blue flowers rise above the foliage from spring through summer and truly showcase this already lovely plant. This Bugleweed typically grows to about 20 cm tall and will spread up to 80 cm wide. This evergreen requires a well-drained site with good summer moisture to perform. It is frost hardy, tolerant of coastal environments, and can be grown in full sun or partial shade. Ajuga reptans ‘Blueberry Muffin’ is commonly used as a groundcover, grown in a container, or used to transform a shady area. A mass planting produces a very rewarding display.
