Carpodetus serratus prostrata Details

Carpodetus serratus prostrata, commonly known as Marbleleaf or Putaputaweta is a low growing, NZ native shrub, that is often used a groundcover. Its spreading and somewhat tangled branches carry small leaves which are variegated green and lime green. It produces masses of small, white flowers in spring which are followed by green berries that turn black in autumn, and are great for attracting birds. It typically grows to 50 cm tall and 1 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a site that does not dry out. It is tolerant of frost, wind, and cool climates but does not like dry soil conditions. Carpodetus serratus prostrata is great for planting around the base of larger trees and shrubs, using as a groundcover on damp sites, or for including in border plantings.
