Coprosma brunnea Details

Coprosma brunnea is a sprawling shrub that grows up to 40 cm tall and 1 m wide. It has brown stems which are flexible and intertwine to form a tangled mass. The leaves are narrow and rather sparse. Inconspicuous flowers are borne in spring amongst the branches and are followed by small, blue berries in autumn. This Coprosma grows best in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate dry soils, frost, cool climates, wind, and coastal conditions. Coprosma brunnea is commonly used as a ground cover, in borders, for planting around larger trees or on a bank, and in alpine gardens. Landscape gardeners often use this Coprosma to provide interesting texture to gardens.
