Coprosma prostrata Kiwi Gold is a NZ native shrub that makes a stunning groundcover. It has densely packed, glossy leaves that are variegated dark green and gold. It grows to about 40 cm tall and 1 m wide forming a dense mat which is great for suppressing weeks. It grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site though most intense colouring occurs when planted in full sun. It is tolerant of coastal conditions, moderate frost, wind, and most soil conditions, barring the extremes of wet and dry. Coprosma Kiwi Gold is ideal for covering an unsightly area of ground quickly, for coastal planting, for planting around larger shrubs, or using in a border planting.
