It carries glossy, green leaves which are held somewhat loosely on spreading stems. This groundcover Coprosma typically grows to 50 cm tall and 1 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. Taupata is tolerant of coastal conditions, moderate frost, wind, and most soil conditions, except at the extremes of wet and dry. Coprosma Poor Knights is commonly included in coastal gardens, mass planted either as a groundcover or on a bank, grown around the base of larger trees, or included in a border.
