Isotoma fluviatilis, commonly known as the Blue Star Creeper, is a NZ native, herbaceous perennial that is often grown as a hardy groundcover. The small, dark green leaves give the appearance of a lush, green carpet. The foliage is adorned with masses of small and blue, star shaped flowers from spring through autumn. It typically grows to just 10 cm tall and will spread to 40 cm over 2-3 years. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of dry periods and moderate frost once established.
