Lobelia angulata, commonly known as Panakenake and Pratia angulata, this is a fast growing, groundcover plant. This NZ native carries small and rounded, green leaves which are held densely as it grows to 10 cm tall and 2 m wide. It bears masses of white flowers in spring which are followed by red-purple berries in autumn. Panakenake prefers to grow in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site that does not dry out. This hardy plant can be frost tender and may die back during winter but will regrow again in spring. Lobelia angulata is an easy plant to grow and is commonly used as attractive ground cover plant, planted around rocks, or allowed to trail over the edge of small wall.
