It typically grows to 60 cm tall and 90 cm wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Pleioblastus viridistriatus is commonly included in a mixed planting, grown around the base of larger trees, trimmed into a low hedge, or mass planted as a groundcover.

Pleioblastus viridistriatus is a small shrub grown for its colourful foliage. It produces slender and lush foliage that is variegated yellow and light green. This is held off rigid, upright stems. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and 90 cm wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and periods of dry though under these conditions it may become deciduous. Pleioblastus viridistriatus is commonly included in a mixed planting, grown around the base of larger trees, trimmed into a low hedge, or mass planted as a groundcover.
