“Lapis” is a compact, herbaceous perennial renowned for its bounty of stunning, blue-purple flowers from spring through until autumn. The flowers are borne on small stems just above the foliage and are complemented nicely with the strap like, dark green foliage. It grows to just 40 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of cool climates, moderate frost, dry periods, some wind, and a wide range of soil conditions except extreme wet or dry. “Lapis” is commonly maintained in a container, planted around pavers, included in rock and cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas. The most stunning displays with this variety are achieved when it is planted en masse.
