“Silver Baby” is a dwarf variety of Agapanthus that produces white flowers with a subtle ice-blue edge through summer. The showy flowers are held as loose clusters above the strap-like, dark green foliage. This herbaceous perennial forms a tidy clump as it grows to about 30 cm tall and the same wide and will perform best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of moderate frost, coastal conditions, some wind, dry periods, and heavier soils. “Silver Baby” is a versatile plant that can be used as a low maintenance option on drier sites or in situations with poor soil conditions such as a clay bank. It is also commonly used in borders and mixed plantings, mass planted as a groundcover, maintained in a container, included in cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas. A mass planting is the best way to showcase this plant.
