The impressive, dark red blooms with a yellow centre are only at peak condition for a day or so, but are continually produced through summer. They are held above the strap-like, green leaves which serve as a lovely backdrop to the flowers. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and 50 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, dry periods, and moderate wind, and may die back during winter but will regrow again in spring.
