“Ruby Glow” is a variety of the commonly known Blood Leaf and grown for its outstanding foliage. The waxy leaves on this herbaceous perennial are ruby-pink and held on dark pink stems. The colouring affords a dramatic display. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and 50 cm wide when grown outdoors in a favourable environment. When grown as a potted plant it generally only reaches 30 cm tall and the same wide. This plant performs best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It must be protected from frosts and in frost prone areas it if often treated as an annual. “Ruby Glow” is commonly included in tropical gardens, added to mixed plantings, maintained in a container, planted alongside a walkway, or grown anywhere the beauty can be enjoyed. A mass planting makes for an effective groundcover.
