Nepeta faassenii Details
Commonly known as Catmint, this is an herbaceous perennial grown for its foliage and pretty flowers. It grows as low mound of fragrant, green-grey foliage to about 40 cm tall and 70 cm wide. Short stems rise above the foliage through summer and autumn bearing clusters of lavender blue flowers. The display is very striking. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It is tolerant of short periods of dry and light frost only. Catmint is a versatile plant that is commonly included in cottage gardens, added to border plantings, planted along pathways or garden edges, added to herb gardens, or grown in a container. It will attract cats and the flowers are great for attracting birds and bees.
