Salvia ‘Limelight’ is a stunning variety of Sage due to its rich display of flowers through autumn. It produces long and slender flower spikes with dark blue flowers from lime-coloured bracts that are very striking. The flowers sit neatly above the dark green foliage and are great for attracting butterflies and small birds. All parts of this herbaceous perennial are aromatic and produce a lovely fragrance when crushed or brushed against. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and 1.2 m wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It hardy to light frost only and does require good levels of moisture during dry periods. ‘Limelight’ is commonly included in a mixed planting, used in cottage gardens, grown around outdoor living areas, or planted to attract butterflies and bees. A mass planting suits this plant and gives a lovely display.
