Alocasia cuprea is a somewhat rare, herbaceous perennial that is grown for its exotic foliage. The leaves are a metallic silver and green, and often have copper tones. It typically grows 50 cm tall and the same wide, performing best on a well-drained, frost free, sheltered site in full sun or partial shade when grown outdoors. It may die back in winter but will generally regrow again in the spring. Alocasia cuprea is used in mixed plantings, maintained in a container, added to tropical gardens, planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like, or mass planted around the base of larger trees and shrubs. It makes for a wonderful indoor plant.
