Commonly known as the Spider Plant, this is a tender, herbaceous perennial grown for its lush and variegated foliage. It features short, bright green leaves with a cream margin which are held somewhat densely and are very aesthetic. Stems spread from the plant with a new plant at the end which will take root if it comes in contact with soil. It typically grows to 20 cm tall and 30 cm wide though will colonise a larger area with time. This plant performs best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, sheltered from both wind and frost. The Spider Plant is commonly grown indoors in a container though it can be grown outdoors in frost-free areas. In these situations, it is often included in borders, planted around outdoor living areas, mass planted as a groundcover, or planted alongside a path.
