Ficus Ice Caps Details

Ficus pumila Ice Caps is a variety of the commonly known, Creeping Fig, and is an impressive climber with variegated leaves. It carries small, heart shaped leaves which are light green with a cream edge. It clings to walls by aerial roots along the stems which enable it to spread quickly across a surface. It will easily climb to cover an area 2 m by 2 m within two years. The Creeping Fig grows well in full sun through to heavy shade conditions but does require a well-drained soil. Frosts and cold environments may cause defoliation, but it will generally regrow again when conditions warm. It is also tolerant of coastal conditions and periods of dry. This is a great plant for covering a wall or trellis and it is commonly used in formal gardens. It is also a popular indoor plant where it is allowed to trail from a hanging basket or to climb a coir fibre stick and contained with trimming.
