Corylus colurna, commonly known as the Turkish Hazel or Turkish Filbert, is a deciduous tree grown for its aesthetic value and nuts. The foliage on this deciduous tree comprises glossy, bright green leaves which develop interesting shades of yellow in autumn before falling. The nuts result from flowers borne in spring and mature some six to eight months later. The Turkish Filbert grows with an upright, columnar habit to eventually reach 18 m tall and 8 m wide. Corylus colurna is commonly grown as a specimen with the added advantage of tasty nuts.

Corylus colurna, commonly known as the Turkish Hazel or Turkish Filbert, is a deciduous tree grown for its aesthetic value and nuts. The foliage on this deciduous tree comprises glossy, bright green leaves which develop interesting shades of yellow in autumn before falling. The nuts result from flowers borne in spring, just before the leaves emerge, and mature some six to eight months later. The Turkish Filbert grows with an upright, columnar habit to eventually reach 18 m tall and 8 m wide though can be contained with trimming. It grows best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun, noting that it is tolerant of frost and cool climates. Corylus colurna is commonly grown as a specimen with the added advantage of tasty nuts.
