Juglans regia, commonly known as the English Walnut tree, is a large, deciduous tree grown for its edible nuts. Leaves emerge a fresh green in spring, mature to become dark green in summer, then develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. Small, yellow flowers in spring result in the tasty nuts in autumn. This tree will typically grow to 20 m tall and the same wide and prefers a full sun position on a well-drained site. Juglans regia is commonly included in large gardens as a specimen, grown as a shade tree, or simply planted for nut production.
