Macadamia Maroochy Details

“Maroochy” is a variety of Macadamia grown for its tasty nuts. The small-sized nuts in autumn are flavoursome and have a creamy texture. It grows as an evergreen tree to about 6 m tall and 4 m wide, bearing glossy, green foliage which creates a lovely backdrop to the racemes of pink flowers in summer. It is important to plant two different varieties of Macadamias close to each other for cross pollination and to ensure good yields. This variety grows best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun and protected from frost. “Maroochy” is commonly grown as a specimen, planted specifically for nut production, or added to a mixed planting in a large garden.
