Libertia Taupo Blaze is a variety of the commonly known, NZ Iris, and is a widely used and popular plant due to the changing colour of the foliage and small, white flowers. The foliage is dense and consists of long leaves which are green-yellow in summer and change to orange-red in autumn. Complementing the foliage are white, star like flowers which emerge above the foliage in spring as it grows to 60 cm tall and the same wide. Libertia Taupo Blaze is commonly mass planted, added to a mixed planting, planted around the base of a larger tree, or planted anywhere structure and texture are desired.

Libertia ixioides Taupo Blaze

Libertia ixioides Taupo Blaze is a variety of the commonly known, NZ Iris, and is a widely used and popular plant due to the changing colour of the foliage and small, white flowers. The foliage is dense and consists of long leaves which are green-yellow in summer and change to orange-red in autumn. Complementing the foliage are white, star like flowers which emerge above the foliage in spring. The flowers result in orange-red berries in autumn which are carried for two to three months. This NZ native typically grows to 60 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of coastal conditions, cool climates, and a range of soil conditions. Libertia ixioides Taupo Blaze is commonly mass planted, added to a mixed planting, planted around the base of a larger tree, or planted anywhere structure and texture are desired.
