Liriope Elmarco Details

Liriope muscari Elmarco, commonly known as Purple Liriope or Lilyturf, is grown for its lovely flowers and tidy foliage. Flower spikes rise above the strap-like, dark green leaves to bear masses of showy, blue-purple flowers. The long-lasting flowers are borne through summer and autumn, blending wonderfully with the foliage. This Lilyturf is an herbaceous perennial and grows as a tidy clump to about 30 cm tall and 40 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of cool climates, moderate frost, dry periods, and coastal environments. It may die back during winter in colder regions to regrow in spring when conditions warm, but otherwise remains evergreen. Liriope Elmarco is an excellent choice for cottage gardens, adding to a mixed planting, including in borders, or for planting around outdoor living areas.
