Liriope Samantha Details

Liriope Samantha, commonly known as Lilyturf or Monkeygrass, is grown for its pretty flowers and tidy foliage. This herbaceous perennial grows as a clump and produces strap-like, dark green leaves. Short stems carrying masses of tiny, light pink flowers are borne during summer and autumn. The flowers are long lasting and are complemented perfectly by the foliage. This Lilyturf typically grows to 50 cm tall and 45 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It tolerates cool climates, moderate frost, dry periods, and coastal environments. During winter it may die back in colder regions to regrow in spring when conditions warm, but otherwise it remains evergreen. Liriope Samantha is an excellent choice for container growing, using in cottage and rock gardens, planting around outdoor living areas, or including in borders. It looks amazing when nestled amongst groundcover plants and is best showcased with a mass planting.
