Lomandra hystrix, commonly known as Mat Rush, Green Mat Rush, or Creek Mat Rush, is a tough and reliable ornamental grass with pleasant aesthetics. It features mid-green foliage, which is held upright with a slight, gentle arch. Sprays of small, cream-coloured flowers are borne amidst the foliage in spring. It grows as a tidy clump to about 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site.
