Lomandra Tanika typically grows to a height of 60-70 cm and 65 cm wide. It can grow slightly bigger than this if it has plenty of fertiliser, is well-watered during dry periods, and is grown in partial shade. Therefore, given the size of this lovely plant, simply give it plenty of space to perform.
The optimum Lomandra Tanika planting distance if you want your plants to merge as an effective ground cover is 50 cm apart. However, if you want them to grow as unique balls, they will need to be spaced at least 1.2 metres apart. The optimum spacing for having them merging to a limited degree is 85 cm apart.
The ideal growing conditions for Lomandra Tanika are full sun or part shade and a well-drained site. This is a hardy plant that tolerates frost, drought, cold climates, wind, coastal climates, and most soil types, except extreme wet. Above all else, make sure it is grown on well-drained soil that does not become water-logged. Similarly, if you intend to grow it in a pot, make sure that only potting media is used and never use garden soil. Browning on the tip ends or plants rotting in the middle is a sure sign they are too wet.
The Lomandra Tanika grass generally reaches a height of 60-70 cm. It can grow taller if the growing conditions are ideal, such as if has plenty of fertiliser and watered during dry periods.
Lomandra Tanika is generally a hardy and low-maintenance plant that has few problems. However, like all living things, it can encounter some challenges. Over-watering is the most common issue. Symptoms include yellowing leaves, wilting, mushy stems, and plants turning black. To remedy, ensure good drainage and reduce your watering frequency. Yellowing or unevenly coloured leaves can indicate a nutrient issue and is easily corrected with garden fertiliser. Mealybugs will sometimes infest plants. They suck sap and leave a white, cottony residue. They are easily treated with a general insecticide. Fungal diseases are rare but can occur in overly damp conditions and are resolved by improving drainage and using a fungicide. Overall, this plant suffers few problems and is very easy to grow.
