Archontophoenix alexandrae, commonly known as the Alexandra Palm, King Palm, or Feather Palm, is a tall and showy Palm Tree native to Australia. It carries long and elegant, mid-green fronds that may reach 2.5 m in length. These are held as a crown on a slender trunk as it grows to 10 m tall and 5 m wide. Clusters of yellow flowers are produced in summer which are followed by large and showy, orange berries that mature to dark red in autumn. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of light frost only. Archontophoenix alexandrae is commonly included in topical gardens, used in avenue plantings, added to a mixed planting, grown as a specimen, used to border an entranceway, or planted as a cluster for an impressive display.
