Dypsis lutescens Details

Dypsis lutescens, commonly known as the Areca Palm, is a stunning plant which is well suited to smaller gardens or for growing indoors. It is renowned for its multiple, narrow, rigid trunks which hold broad and lacy fronds. It is slow growing and will eventually reach 6 m tall and 2.5 m wide when grown outdoors in optimal conditions, but typically reaches 2 m tall and 1 m wide when grown indoors. Best results with this Palm are achieved when it is planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It will be damaged by frosts and is therefore not suited to cool climate regions. Dypsis Lutescens makes a lovely specimen and is well suited to courtyard gardens, planting around outdoor living areas, including in a tropical garden, adding to a mixed planting, or maintaining in a container as an indoor plant.
