Mexican Fan Palm, Skyduster
Washingtonia robusta, commonly known as the Mexican Fan Palm or Skyduster, features a crown of large, dark green fronds which have a prominent midrib. These are held on a thick and fibrous trunk which carries remnants of the fallen fronds as a skirt. This stately and distinctive tree grows quickly to about 15 m tall and 6 m wide. Washingtonia robusta is commonly grown as a specimen, planted to border or line an entrance, included in a mixed planting, or used in Mediterranean themed gardens.
