Acanthus Whitewater Details

Acanthus Whitewater is a variety of the commonly known, Bears Breeches, and is a beautiful herbaceous perennial. It features large, deeply cut, foliage which is variegated dark green with splashes of cream. Through late spring and summer flower stems rise above the foliage to produce striking spikes of cream flowers tinged with pink. The display is very impressive. It grows as a clump to about 1 m tall and the same wide but it will colonise a larger area as it roots spread. It grows best in fertile, well-drained soils in either full sun or partial shade. Plants are tolerant of dry periods, frost, cool climates, and in these environments, they may die back during winter to regrow when conditions favour.
