Actaea Hillside Black Beauty is a variety of the commonly known, Snakeroot, and is grown for its impressive flowers and foliage. This herbaceous perennial produces scented, bottlebrush-like, pale pink flowers on slender stems which rise above the foliage from summer through autumn. The foliage comprises lush, dark red-purple leaves which provides a great contrast to the flowers as it grows to 1.2 m tall and 1.5 m wide. Actaea Hillside Black Beauty is commonly used in border or mixed plantings, included in cottage gardens, maintained in a container, or mass planted around the base of larger trees and shrubs.
